What we usually call a cooling tower refers to an open cooling tower: in the tower, hot water is sprayed into droplets or water films through a water distribution system. The water flows from top to bottom, and the air flows from bottom to top or horizontally. The evaporation of water and the heat transfer of cold air and hot water take away the heat in the water.
FRP cooling tower can be divided into counter flow cooling tower and cross flow cooling tower
Features of FRP counter flow cooling tower:
Water flows from top to bottom and air flows from bottom to top,the two flow directions are opposite. This type cooling tower is called counter flow cooling tower.
The counter flow cooling tower has good heat exchange effect and the process is divided into three cooling sections:
① From the water distributor to the top of the filling, the water temperature in this section is high, so it can transfer heat to the air;
② Filling water and air heat exchange section;
③ The water temperature can drop by 1-2 ℃ in northern China at the third stage. In conclusion, under the same conditions, the filling area of counter flow tower is about 20% smaller than that of cross flow tower. The heat exchange process is more reasonable and efficient.
Features of FRP cross flow cooling tower
The water flows from top to bottom and the air flows horizontally from outside the tower to inside the tower. The two flows are vertical and orthogonal. This kind of cooling tower is called cross flow cooling tower. Commonly used in residential areas with strict noise requirements, such as hotels.
Advantages: energy saving, low water pressure, small wind resistance, low-speed motor can be configured, no dripping noise and wind noise.
Disadvantages: the filler is easy to age, the water distribution hole is easy to be blocked, the anti icing effect is poor, and the moisture reflux is large.
