Generally speaking, after 5 to 8 years of normal use, the cooling tower requires a replacement of the filler block. Without proper maintenance, the filler must be replaced every 2-3 years. During the replacement process, inspect the drift eliminators and nozzles. If necessary, the drift eliminators and nozzles also need to be replaced.
The replacement construction of new and old fillers generally follows some steps:
- Before construction, protect other equipment on site, and conduct necessary isolation and tagging. Lay construction material cloth on the waterproof layer of the floor.
- Remove the old packing. Turn off the power supply to the motor, remove the tie bars at the cooling tower packing area, and then remove the old packing to clean up the garbage inside the tower.
- Fill with new filler. Bond the cooling tower filler and ensure the placement space of the filler during the curing time of the adhesive, ensuring that the contact points of the filler are at the same level during bonding, and ensuring that the contact points of the filler are evenly and tightly stressed during the crimping process.
- Cleaning inside the tower. Clean up the dust and garbage inside the cooling tower, stack the filling materials in order inside the cooling tower, strictly prohibit trampling and squeezing, ensure that each layer of filling blocks are neat, ensure that the filling materials are tight and without gaps with edges, corners, and column edges, and do not exceed 2mm intervals in difficult areas. Restore the tie bars at the filling area of the cooling tower.
- The assembly block should be assembled in an upward and downward direction, and the top surface of each layer should be laid flat, with interlayer cleaning and debris removal.
- When installation, maintenance, and other work require an operation on the filling material, it must be carried out on a flat plate and it is strictly prohibited to step on the filling material.
- During the entire construction process, welding operations above the filler are strictly prohibited, and fire prevention measures should be taken if necessary
- After all processes such as replacement and tower maintenance are completed, bring out construction tools and auxiliary installation facilities, and the project is successfully completed.
